RIP v2 if you have a simple network EIGRP if you only have cisco and mid-large network OSPF if you have different Vendors and mid-large network

Check EIGRP, it is the best routing protocol and it is a open protocol now.

My take is: 1. If you are using all routers from a cisco EIGRP is better, 2. otherwise OSPF flexible works with many vendors devices.
