As Mr. Mehra mentioned "Will to learn" is most important parameter.

Marketing is an wide ocean. As you mentioned that you have just enrolled in "MBA" you can explore wide options starting from networking with people in your college along with social networking online through Linkedin. (Linkedin actual has some of the best articles/debates/discussions etc)

Going through Journals, business diaries, Marketing events in your college etc.

Look around your place for advertisements & keep a scrap book understanding "Why the Ad's placed that way"...Who is the target audience ..what is their message & how better they could have done it. (It will help you gain knowledge of Effective Advertising & exact target audience for them).

Go to retail outlets/Shopping malls/Hyper markets check different categories, how's the products presented (Visibility) /displayed. Keeping in mind a customer requirement you can make an exercise of Brain storming checking on different parameters: Is the items/products attractive or easy to find, is the product & it's brand message aligned, how's different brands in one category highlight brand message, pricing, packaging, size etc. (It will enlighten you how category management works, effects of different elements affecting product/brand performance, customer profiling etc).

These are just some basic few things you could do.You can experiment various options understanding different Industries & how they market their products etc. Anything you learn is part of your "Learning Curve" & will help you build an effective marketer within "YOU" :-)

Drive your passion, be open for changes & critisim , look beyond actuals, experiment etc

Best of Luck!!!
