When do you know it's the right time to stop advancing on a contract or project and how to introduce that to your client without a risk of litigation?

Accepting and signing a contract is legally binding on the participating parties. All reviews have to be done prior to acceptance and signing. Advancing may be considered on defaulting on accepted terms for example defaulting on payment terms. However, legal experts would be best to give their views only after going thru the contract contents.
