Hi, For me if a employee dosen't show up i have need to call and make sure if everything is fine and secondly its an responsibilties to gain a trust between employee and manager
as a part of my responcebellety ill be sure that ill call him to enquer from him about the reson behind his upsence .
FOR ME I WILL WAIT HIS CALL AND IF HE DIDNT I WILL WAIT FOR HIM TO SHOW HIMSELF AND I WILL TALK AND ASK EVERYTHING THE REASON AND AT THE SAME TIME TO GIVE HIM ADVISE DEPEND ON THE SITUATIUON. WITH THIS YOU CAN SUPERVISE YOUR PEOPLE OF WHAT PASSION HE HAD ON HIS WORK.
@ bandar >>> in case of the duty timing attending delayed even for five munites from any employee so you should call him/her and ask short questions as below :
1- hello ,, are you on the way to ur work place ?
in case of his / her answer is yes so you should ask another short question
2- how long time you need to reach ?
in case of his / her answer is5 ,10 or till15 munites so just answer ( waiting you )
in case of his / her answer is oh !! i am sleeping or i have urjent case like i did an accident , some one sick of my family or any another answers which will make him late for long time or absent SSSOOO you should informe your manager , head office , or the managment about the case and request another staff to replace him/her otherwise you should replace him/her and do his work also .
then you should make sure that the employee will come next day or no by calling him a gain and if will not come so you should provide another staff or make new schedule to do your daily work tasks as every normal day .
write what happened in your dialy personal report ,, also in your dialy official report .
advice all the staff in case some one will be late to his duty timing must informe the supervisor or the manager not to wait their call to ask about and if any employee will be late many times so the managment have the rights to terminate him/her .

I will wait for a certain time ( an hour ), then I would call him to enquire whether everything is ok and find out reason for his no show up or late coming to office...
for me i would wait for him to call and if he didn't , he does not deserve this job, unless there was a very exceptional unexpected reason for him and that is very rare to happen. Usually the person who doesn't show up on his first day with no call with a very good convincing reason, he doesn't deserve my trust...
