What does it mean when i said TPM?

TPM - Total Productive Maintenance. It is the quality maintenance carried out on equipment and machinery as per the estimated life cycle of sacrificing components such as bearings, seals, wear parts etc. to ensure optimum accuracy and productivity from the machine and avoid unscheduled repairs.

TPM( Total Productive Maintenance) is a quality based maint procedure. It is helpful in getting good OEE for critical(bottle neck) machines. Its base is5S

TPM is more than just Total Productive Maintenance, it is Total Productive Management.

TPM includes a set of Best Practices that enhance the dynamics among different departments in the organization to increase OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) with its three dimensions: Availability, Efficiency and Quality defects.

Other KPIs have to be considered to sustain the balance

There are difference between Preventive Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance.

Fundamentally,Total Productive Maintenance is related to the production mass and quality.

Part of this system is achieved by maintaining the equipment on their top working condition.

Preventive Maintenance is related to the equipment maintenance procedures as directed in the repair and service manual or maintenance manual or.......etc

Total productive and preventive maintenance are similar apporoaches of maintenance but TPM applies better in production while preventive maintenance includes all. A new concept called relaibility centered maintenance are commonly practiced these days.
