My company is currently using the VF-3 for engraving serial numbers on our parts. The process we use is the manual entry into the program and edit the line G47 to add1 Is there an easier way to engrave sequential serial numbers?
To perform sequential engraving serial numbers, Haas merged macro variable programmed engraving cycle G47. Macro variable (# 599) is incremented every time the G47 gets a command from P1. You can control the number of characters that are engraved with the number of sharps (#) on a line G47. For example, (#####) will lead to a five-digit serial number engraved. To load the initial serial number to a variable # 599, type G47 P1 (xx) in the MDI; where xx is the starting serial number. Here's a sample program: O01112 (engraved SEQUENTIALLY SERIAL NUMBERS) T7 M06 G43 H07 G00 G90 G54 X1. Y-1. Z1. M08 S6000 M03 Z.1 G47 P0 X1. Y-1. R J0.18-0.01 0.2 Z-F75. E50. (Serial Number) G47 P1 J0.18 R-0.2 Z-0.01 F75. E50. (#####) M09 G00 G28 M30
This custom macro engraves three-digit serial numbers which increment by one. The character set is1/4 high numerals from zero through nine. To get started store the left most number in variable #524. the second number in variable #525 and the right most number in variable #526 to start. To start with serial number147, for example, set #524 to1, #525 to4, and #525 to7. The engraving tool must first be positioned0.1 inch over the center of the each numeral. The pitch is .200".
