I believed it’s a matter of preparing yourself to adapt in a new environment and be open to a new lifestyle abroad. Culture, beliefs and tradition will be different, so learn to respect and adjust on these aspects. Transition period is tough but try to let go of stereotypes and immerse yourself in local culture.

Hi Almir,

You asked a brilliant question I must say. Let me start by saying it depends on the kind of relationship you want to build abroad. Let's assume it’s a business relationship, you need to bear in mind the following:

Product or Service quality: This will have effect on long term relationship with your service or product. It will build a lot of TRUST. And try to say only the TRUTH always.

Communication: This is very important for your business, especially abroad. Even romantic long distance relationship between couples are kept alive by strong and all time communication. Ensure adequate information is effectively passed in your business both internal and external.

Networking: Build a network for your business and keep the heat alive. Cherish and nurture them. Give some mouth-watering offer that makes them stick longer around you. Your professional network should include your prospective and existing customers, suppliers, partners, professional associations, and etcetera. Don't forget to build community on social media, the latter already have effect on businesses lately. You need to forge good relationship with the government of the foreign territory where you are doing your business and ensure that you duly observe all the local laws. If within your business capacity, support the government/community by creating or improving social activities or amenities.

Repeat Customers: Strife to earn repeat customer (your sales team has to focus on this), they usually turn into loyal customers. To earn repeat customers ensure quality, reward your loyal customers, broadcast your testimonials, ensure follow-up, make your customer service team and sales team happy (they are usually the direct and first contact customers have with your business) they give customers' experience

Branding: Work exclusively on branding your business and make it worth associating with. When you are successful in banding your business, societies will be proud to buy your product and service and showcase it even in public. Even professional associations will want to be identified with you. Branding your business can generate ten times productivity for you than when you fail in branding.

Evangelism: You need an evangelist. Guy Kawasaki, the former evangelist of Apple, emphasize the difference between a product evangelist and salesperson. Salesperson cares about the commission and incentive but an evangelist does not only convince your potential customers to buy, they strife to establish your business as the only genuine solution to their needs and make your business their standard way of doing. It is more effective if you choose your evangelist from the country abroad where you do the business.

I hope this piece is useful. Good luck Almir!

I appreciate feedback from Baytees

upon the completion of the visible study concerning the products of the supplier which is having high demands in the territory you are in charge of the following fundamental steps are essential to maintain a long fruitful  business relationship:1) ensure full transparency between both by keeping the supplier updated on the current market & competitors of the existing market status through regular reports on a weekly / monthly basis.

2) inform the supplier immediately of any changes that take place in your markets such as the appearance of a new competitor or an economic affair that leaves a negative impact on the running business between both.3) Be always prompt & punctual with your commercial correspondents & payment commitments.

4) Try always to highlight the supporting staff to the supplier who is dealing directly with the products being the major key players of implementing the marketing plan & achieving positive results.

5) always be on time by forecasting your upcoming business for the next fiscal year & discuss openly with the supplier your new business plan as well.6) Be always the first to wish the supplier their special events such as Independence days, holy occasions, or birthdays. Thanks,,Fadi NASR
