When choosing a topic for you students to write , What are the questions by which the teachers think of?

I think that as students are becoming more and more capable of critical thinking, teachers' questions have to meet with students intellectual needs, so even though the choice of the topic may be relatively easy, the question that follow have to be different, indirect, or at least posed in a new unfamiliar way to the students, so that when they look at them for the first time, they'll be a little surprised and taken off guard, and this will instantly make them start thinking and reflecting on and on around the question, which in turn makes the ideas that pop into their heads new and creative...
and that's something I think every teacher must focus at, creativity in students....
