No teacher is better than experience. Children learn fast through activities. They should be given small tasks to accomplish both in school and at home. It develops sense of responsibility in them. The schedule of activities should me more closer to the real life which gives them the confidence to move forward.

In school the responsibilities should be rotating among the students of a class. For instance:

- counting the number of students daily.

- Distribution of lunch box among students at break time.

- Clean after when finish an activity.

- and so on.

Depute children in pairs to fulfil a responsibility.

This is my current role in life and very interesting it is too!! I am in total agreement with Anayat your own life experiences and allowing your students the freedom, the advice, the guidance to gain their own life experiences is exactly what it is all about. The operative word through all this is "experience"!

Teaching real life skills is very important.  What are the big issues in life when it comes to saving money, respect for other, love, caring, being resourceful, having a strong mind, being mindful, not harming people, valuing life, respecting the environment and other people etc  etc. Teaching these is probably more important than some of the subject matter we learn.  My view is that their should be a course or subject designed that embraces all these issues.  I have found that life skills are more important in life than subject matter.  Subject matter can be taught and learnt.  When one is good in a subject one can excell.  However, one cannot excel in life without decent and good lifeskills.  It has to be taught in a systematic way the way normal subjects are taught.  For example, why do managers of banks have financial challenges?  They have only been taught the subject matter but not lifeskills

Teaching real life skills is as important as relating the objectives to real life activities the students are going to encounter. It is important to put things into context. For example if teaching fractions- You could ask students who eats breakfast, lunch or dinner everyday. Surely everyone will raise their hand.  Then explain that each time you take a bite of your food you are eating a fraction of your meal.

Finding ways to relate the concepts being taught to real life make an impact on students as well as engages them.
