This may be because these managers believed that this approach is useful for work, on the other hand want to feel pride and condescension toward others, in both cases this is not acceptable, particularly in workplace, and does not serve the interest of the organization, because it does not create loyalty , like these managers certainly have no idea or culture with regard to the organizational behavior of individuals
There are many reasons :
Human Behavior : The egoism of power or to order, its natural in every human and the mentality of being superior.
Professional Reason : The excess work load
Corporate Reason : To show the importance in the company of him to other employees
There may be lot, but I felt these three practically so I could tell you what I know.

It depends on the nature of managers. Every person is different from another and there are managers who are cooperative and polite as well. Higher grades or power can make managers strict / professional, not arrogant.
I would like to add to Wasiq Waheed's comment.
We first need to determine whether the person is a manager or a leader. Please keep in view that in order to be a good leader, one ought to go thru the hearth of patience, intelligence, judgment, decision making and most importantly 'leading from the front'. Anyone (including Managers) can be a leader. The managers who show arrogance are somehow scared of loosing their power. They will be afraid to delegate because of their own security. The true leaders set example by leading from the front and then fearlessly delegate. This helps them build productive, supportive and energetic teams and deliver the best quality work! That's my two cents!
Not all managers are arrogant. True, some are snobbish and haughty, and need to be counselled by higher-ups. Unfortunately, self-conceited and lordly managers are so due to psychological reasons, and to correct their behaviour and conduct, you need to work on their psyche. Job titles are never permanent, and self-worthiness should never be linked to what your position is in the company.
Power.
May be because they have more responsibilities.
Neither grade level nor authority / power but because of lost appetite for self learning, self developing and non contribution towards learning and development of others. This if revived would show positiveness towards others.
My answer is an all-encompassing word: dominant culture. Managers' attitude is a direct reflection of culture whether it's:
It has nothing to do with degree, status, education-level, age, race, experience or power, but with the cultural understanding of what a perfect "manager's attitude" is. I've come across a wide variety of managers from all ages, all sectors, at all levels of management, senior or junior, in multiple cultures and from multiple cultures.
In some cultures it is simply accepted and EXPECTED from a manager to convey some degree of arrogance in high power-distance cutures (Middle East). Otherwise, their authority may simply be undermined by subordinates who have no other association with power than such big distance & (appearent) arrogant behavior. Off course there will be those who can make a distinction and appreciate the humility of a manager, but to the majority it will be "out of their world".
In other cultures the exact opposite is true. Any manager who acts arrogant towards his subordinates in a "class-culture" way, will soon be "voted out" and looked down upon as "out of their world". It is accepted and EXPECTED from a manager in low power-distance cultures (Western Europe), to be NORMAL, otherwise his power will be undermined by subordinates who have a strictly professional look towards power that doesn't affect human interaction.
The most humble managers, and the most arrogant managers will either impose their (cultural) attitude OR adapt it to the majority's dominant attitude towards management in relation to power and arrogance.
Hi,
As many described, the reasons are many. But in my point of view, most experienced personnel's are more arrogant and its because of their experience. The reason cannot affordable for one who is not in a manager position. And the thing is that they studied the people well and they are answerable for any mistakes under him. In a friendly environment subordinates Analise the manager clearly and they will use the weak points in nearest future as well. To avoid that most of them purposely create his/her charector arrogant. For a personnel in his first managerial environment he should keep quiet and calm and he realize it doesn't suitable for a manager and in the next environment he will change himself... anybody agree this...??
Most of them initially show arrogance to prove their authority later that become part of their personality.
