I like to express my views on the most needed competencies for any Digital Marketing Manager who wants to make a milestone in his or her career.
First in my list is: Sound Knowledge of the Complete Digital Marketing Mix. Manager must have the complete flow of understanding about Advertisement, Design, Content, SEO, PPC, Affiliates, Mobile and Email Marketing.
Second is Web Analytics. Working knowledge of web analytics specifically Google Analytics is necessary to stand out in the crowd . Manager should able to identify the key data and pull out actionable insights from it.
In order to create a power pack online presence or branding, I prefer Webmaster Tools and Social Media Skills as the third most important competency for the digital marketing manager. Working knowledge of identifying crawl errors, monitoring search visibility or assessing site health is must. Added to it, digital marketing managers must have a strong working knowledge of the major social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn
Fourth one is Presentation and Negotiation Skills. Manager should have an incredible skills in negotiating prices and strategy with a third party services, eye catching presentations and clear communication in order to translate the raw data to a meaningful branding for the end user.
Finally, excellent Project Management and Coding Knowledge is must to perform great in the Online Marketplace.
