Yes, I do. A semi-annual or even quarterly gathering would be better. Nothing replaces live, face-to-face human interaction. Virtual human interaction does not. Gatherings can be formal as well as informal. Gatherings give employees a sense of belonging. Gatherings make them feel important and valued. Gatherings are great occasions for exchanging ideas and reaching out to employees. If well- arranged and well-prepared, a gathering is a great value-added opportunity for both the company as well as the employees.

I echo with the answer of Hana. There should be at least one big gathering once a year (Annual party) with all employees, and quarterly gatherings for individual teams or departments. These gatherings are part of team building activities and play an important role to motivate employees, and boost the morale..
