Schedule regular meetings where they do the talking and management listens. They can decide the topic and management writes everything they say about it. It may be quiet at first but after two or three things are written on the board the floodgates of feedback will open. Also take the time to ask them open ended questions individually in their workspace or somewhere they are comfortable. I once had a manager who took a different employee to lunch each week and he let them discuss anything that was important to them. The staff felt connected and important to the manager

I think the best way to prove to my team that I am open to suggestion is simply to avoid being an autocrat in any ramification. Also by allowing issue to be subjected to discussing and allowing every members of the team to have a say on the point of discussion. Moreover an open door policy should be encouraged in order to carry everyone along. Furthermore, issues can also be decided based on balloting if there is ambiguity concerning what decision to adopt or an expert can be invited to broaden the mind and knowledge of every members of the team before taking a collective decision on matter arising in order to maintain a collective team spirit devoid of rancor and division. In conclusion, I feel that by adopting all hands on deck approach every members of my team will be satisfied and convinced that I am open to suggestion. Thanks.

Put forward the task to the team and brainstorm as a team and take views from all rather than just putting forward your findings or solutions on the table and asking all to follow. Let all in the team feel wanted and equally important. Make pointers as to what would seem to be a backbone and then frame accordingly, being patient and responsive to team suggestions with a right approach and skillfully know how not to implement a few ideas, however with a right and practical explanation for the same but in a polite manner, not seeming to be dominant or disrespectful.
