Will lecture-style teaching at universities become obsolete? If so, what will replace lectures?

nothing gonna replace lectures

it is not obselate, now become well developed with more supportive techniques.

you are spending minimum1 hour with your student in a closed area and you feed their minds with knowledge, so the smart way you got the short perceiving comes.

you have to give a lecture, do a guiding practice, ask questions, give assignments and assess your students with formative assessment/summetive assessment. go out of lecture hall to scientific trips and do interviews and workshops

Better alternative option is multimedia but in language teaching communication and active participation of the learner will be more effective to get the result in a short time.

communicative method of teaching has already replaced the lecturing method in universities particularly in teaching English language courses. But it is not the final thing , multimedia and social media are also going to play an important rule and I am afraid that one day the classroom will be without teachers and may be replaced by multimedia.

In my opinion nothing will replace the lectures courses
