...a company/business would realize profitability only when it generates sales but before making sales there should be marketing strategies that you will use to create awareness. just by merely putting up on signboards the name of your company is already a thing of marketing. even if you have a good production, a good supply chain mgt,,  a good finance dept., but you fail to communicate that you have a good product to offer in the market then how can you make sales and expect gross profitability,...so my opinion, Sales and Marketing dept has more say in terms of profitability....
