Any sales drive should have proper marketing intelligence through research,proper mix,branding and visibility if tools are right then first step to sale is accomplished.

Train your sales force well in cold calling, meetings, greetings, sales strategies, customer database, strong process, follow ups, negotiation skills, customer retaining skills, up selling skills and cross selling (if needed)

if you have everything in right place with good efforts, sincerity and dedicated then any teams can achieve their goals.

Selling is always considered as acheiving the targets.
Tracking the sales targets is one of the important part but other then this the Manager should do the following:1.

hold weekly meetings and ask each salesman what exactly did he do to successfully close the sale.

then ask each salesman to talk about deals that fail,and customers that will not close the sale.

let them help each other.

after all they are a team.
