Hydro(static) Test

The test involves filling the vessel or pipe system with a liquid, usually water, which may be dyed to aid in visual leak detection, and pressurization of the vessel to the specified test pressure. The test pressure is always considerably higher than the operating pressure to give a factor of safety. This factor of safety is typically166.66%,143% or150% of the designed working pressure, depending on the regulations that apply

Pneumatic Test

If the fluid used to pressurize the system is a gas, usually air or an inert gas. Its called Pneumatic Test. A pneumatic test is inherently more dangerous than a hydrostatic test due to the higher energy content of a compressed gas, and this type of test is limited to lower pressures or smaller systems

Air Blowing

 Compressed air is used for "air blowing" for the cleaning and commissioning of new facilities or build systems, drying pipelines and systems following hydro tests, pressure and leak testing, and heating and cooling of systems. In some parts of the World, cleaning with compressed air is not allowed by law.
