What is the difference between reservoir engineering and production engineering?

reservoir engineering deals application of scientific principles to the behaviour of reservoir fluids while production engineering deals with bringing reservoir fluids to the surface.

PRODUCTION ENGINEER ROLE : Maximize the productivity or injectivity in cost effective manner ( productivity index j ), also deals with pumping facilities and how to transport hydrocarbon to surface .

RESERVIOR ENGINEER ROLE : deals with reservior in all aspects using MBE (Material balance equation ) , estimate intail oil in place and intial gas in place , predict the performance of the reservior in the future . need more experience than production .
