I'll add what I know and additional info will be great from you guys

advantage of sap is good in supply chain management+ HANA

advantage of oracle is fast customizable + buying sun microsystem and peoplesoft  will give a future good advantage and clouding in oracle takes it all

disadvantage of sap  project implemetaion is costly

more popular now a days is SAP

interesting article I found http://www.centriqs.biz/smallbusiness/sap-vs-oracle.php quote  "SAP acts in a different way. They look over time by conducting numerous market surveys and analyzing the needs of their customers and prospects. A large component of their marketing strategy is first to understand what's wrong with Oracle's products and then to win over Oracle's customers by offering them customized middleware, relational database systems (Sybase) and in-memory computing platforms (HANA)."

additional info will be helpful

you can not define the best without mentioning the use case, the budget, the technology that will be based on (Database, OS, ... etc), the skills of the team who gonna work with the system and maintain it... in general both are good for what they made for.

SAP is suitable   for  larger organizations such as  and suitable for Manufacturing companies (Example Oil and gas , Automobile etc)

Oracle  is suitable SME and large org. Oracle Financials  is much  better than SAP .

SAP is much expensive than Oracle.

There is no answer to who will be top as it depends on the which vertical it will be used .

We keep hearing that SAP is good for manufacturing companies. But no body has yet shown the technical features establishing the superiority of SAP over Oracle. Mostly we on the user side, depend on the implementation partners. All the big firms implement both SAP & Oracle and there will be a conflict of interest when they advise the user corporates (as they get paid a higher sum for implementation of SAP). Sadly, the ERP firms like SAP / Oracle, do not seem to publish the superiority or otherwise of their own product with specific details - may be due to the oligopoly in the market or due to some business reasons which are not openly shared
