Define phases of waterfall model?

From left to right, they are:

planning > analysis > design > implementation

These phases go from the1st phase (planning) to the last phase without going backwards (i.g. from design to analysis).

The disadvantage of this methodology is we have to make sure that we get enough information at each phase before we proceed to the next phase (like I said, we can't go backwards)
