I agree with Shagufta and Anayat especially as they have both highlighted "communication". I class communication as the single most important aspect of life not just teaching. Apologies to Denis I have just noticed that he has also made reference to communication. We all appear to be "singing from the same songsheet"!!!!!
There are many things to be considered while appointing a new teacher and it varies in different institutions. A few are enlisted here:
* Confidence
* Qualifications
* Command on the subject
* Disposition
* Level of communicating
* Etc
I used to prefer zeal of teaching in a new teacher. All other attributes can be learned except zeal, which is something natural and essential in a good teacher.
