Assess the training which needs to be undertaken.
Look at the whole year - good to see who is on vacation, on sick leave etc.
Also helps to book people on as early as possible if training places are limited, or are the courses only available at certain times of the year? Is the training available throughout the year? Split into quarterly time frames e.g Jan - Mar, Apr - Jun, Jul - Sep, Oct - Dec.
This also helps with reviewing training, e,g, was the training useful? What needs to be changed? What was the feedback from the employees about the training courses? Business planning - what are the plans for the business for the year? Tailor training to suit the business plans for the future.

The Human Recourses department must collect the Training needs details/heads/title via annual appraisals and then compile their list and based on the approved training must align the schedule tentatively. Here, on the size of organization, the training section could plant them on monthly or quarterly basis. We did so and sometime we need to re-schedule the session based on the requirement of trainer & trainees. After the training session the actual stats were recorded and training done session were recorded to gauge their performance. We should at least define the schedule on quarterly basis and then plan it accordingly.

I believe Monthly training Calendars are the most effective and efficient way to use when dealing with Training plans, why?

Depending on annual training needs and yearly performance appraisals outcomes and plan yearly calendar will ignore the fact that at less35% of those employees will leave the company " international turnover % between35 to65 on retail field " .

the companies usually hiring those35% to cover the turnover,

Those new hired did not conduct any PA as well as they need the essential/ core training courses to enables them perform better .

across my long experience in training and preparing training calendars ,

its good to have yearly Training on place " as  a Guidance only" while you will depends on the monthly to invite your nominees

The training calendar depends on your business.
Are a training provider company? or you're planning for your company training.
If you are training provider you need to know what your clients are looking for from you.
You need to guess their future needs and to offer competitive courses for them, If you are planning for your company training you need to run needs assessment and then make your calendar quarterly or annually.

Annually, because you get the Budget at the beginning of financial year and  to follow the company strategy for the year and reach the goals for the HR Development plan any way things change during the year so do a monthly plan base on the annual plan to recover any change immediately.  Plus what "Jennifer Clarke" She actually said it all
