For the client.  I am confident in my work performance to the satisfaction level of the client--and also can expect the next assignment from him.  I prefer a direct work though with the contract consultancy a continuous work is almost assured--as I need maximum level of satisfaction for my work and there cannot be a compromise in that aspect.

As an Registered and Licensed Architect, I'd choose to work for the Client. My Job is to first listen the concept of the Client, ask for a specific consultant for allied Services's improvement and do the job with the Contractor.

Its best to work for a Client rather than the other two options.

Reason:

1) Client is the father of a project, I would rather work with the father (decision maker) than with the uncle (influencer)

2) Client is always in demand and this allows limitless opportunities to learn being a client, working with consultants and contractors.

3) Working with a Client can always benefit an individual as he is a client in many other aspects of his life, whereas, he might not be a consultant or a contractor in other aspects of his life. (So personal benefit)

4) Working with a Contractor & Consultant gives a chance to serve, whereas, working with a Client gives a change to learn.

In my work career, I worked as a contractor (10/2014 - present), consultant (09/2008 -09/2014), and directly with the client (09/2001 -09/2008). I loved all of them. Each one has an advantages and disadvantages.

for me it doesn't matter. My experience is that you have to make the best of your work for all of them. And yes , I understand the question well, and its a very good question, based on a lot of experience.

Working for the Client is a huge responsibility because he relies on your judgement and experience.

Working for a consultant depends on what type of consultant, I always hop for well educated and well experienced persons to make the best of the project.

Working for a contractor is know the contractor well, talk to him and engineer what is best to built for them, so cheaper.

Normally you work first for the Client and afterwards for the contractor...
