Creating Ms-Word Document in a Linux environment is possible, with the help of build-in package called Libra-office,some of the Linux flavors perhaps dont have Libra-office by default  then you might need install the package(Libra-office) manually, anyhow coming back to your question.

suppose if you already have Libra-office package installed, then open the (Libra office Writer).

steps to save Document in Ms-word format.

1) open the Libra office writer.

2)create a new file by clicking File New Menu>then Click Text Document .

3)create/type/add text or image with the help of keyboard.

This is how you can save your file in ms-word format.

4)go to file menu >Click on Save or Ctrl+s>window will pop-up,

5)Provide Name ,in the name field which is above/left hand side.(First Document file)

6)pop-up widows contain (All-format Option, Scroll Box)Just above the save button.
