There might be two prospective of it. If a parent company duplicate the brand image then its always beneficial because you sail on the brand image you already have in the market, but i believe even the rivalry company can use your brand image with a little change in spelling but same pronunciation will get you worry. For example if some one duplicate Vaseline brand with Vaslene, the the parent company may loss lots of business as there is change in spelling of the product only.
