Every application has its own pros and cons. Should not compare the application. Compare the modules coming along with the basic software. Depends on the requirements of the Organization (Be it a Start-up / Medium / Enterprise) and commercial affordability.
My best3D modeling software is Auto Desk Inventor Professional
It is not about what is good for me , it is about what is good for the product i'm working on . I prefer working using SolidWorks because i'm expert in it , but when it needs i use PTC creo , NX or anything needed according to the product , and whome i'm working with
It's depend on your work autocad is CAD program provide2d and3d modeling but it doesn't contain CAE(Computer aided Engineering) but on another hand, solidworks have CAD and CAE it is good on small projects and modeling but when you want to apply on big projects it wont help you.
In big projects you have to use programs like CATIA or Siemens NX have (CAD,CAM&CAE).
So if you want to use only3d molding i recommended using solidworks.
AUTO DAD
Selection of software is purely based on your Organization & its category.
AutoCAD is a basic tool for all Engineering Industry. Must to have. Its only2D & basic3D.
Among Engineering softwares, SolidWorks is most recommended esp for middle east as well as startups / first time introducers. Relative cheaper. SolidEdge & Inventor is equally recommended. Most companies are using solidworks & so relative easier to get trained people in it.
CATIA / Unigraphics etc are higher softwares for advanced applications. It got different modules customized to industries like mold manufactures, aerospace, wiring. Sellers shall customize them after studying your requirements. If your organization is huge & at multiple locations, choose among these.
CATIA they are used for aviation purposes and other main components.
From my experience, among these, Unigraphics is the best. unigraphics is now known as siemens NX.
I have tried to model complex turbine blades with different softwares. The truth is you could model any shape in unigraphics, and i give first preference for the same.
Which companies are using Solidworks and what they design with Solidworks.
