It appears to be a communication failure hence, work needs to be done on Communication Management/Plan
I would say Communications plan is more appropriate at this point and start a Work authorization system if it happens again.
Communication plan. bring all the team together, brain storm the lag and tell them to cover it up. Another good technique is having a5 min review meeting every morning.

I already voted up the answer of Mr. Usman Tariq, my experience as well is to keep the execution of a project in order. meet every day for5 minutes, everybody can tell if he sees any problems or encountered with problems that need to be solved, People tent to keep problems to them selves and try to solve them with more time loss because other work isn' t done. It also gets people closer to each other and work better as a team.

Thank you my dear ,,, I agree with all the answer of the Colleagues which they going with the Communication plan ,so it will give you constantly updated and on any emergency problem or deviation may occur in the progress of work on the project program so trying to meet our business every day to find a solution appropriate for any problem no matter how small even to be a barrier leads to the deviation and the bottom line as a manager you have to be part of your team
I believe to use the communication plan and than the organizational plan....
you log into the communication plan whom you have to contact and what is delivered and log this in the organizational plan as well send both to all managers/supervisors.
This way you can reorganize your workforce for areas needed which are behind in the schedule
