Brother its not about what these tools and techniques could return you, it is about optimizing your expenses in maximizing project benefits and meeting customer expectations.

 

If you could meet customer expectations of a $10 project by spending $2, then $8 is your profit which is80% whereas in real life profit varies and is dependent on many factors which are sometimes controllable and uncontrollable.

 

So, it all depends on your efforts in estimating correctly.
