Well I prefer Archicad, it more refined and flexible in production, modeling or detailing.
Revit it is as so but you need way more parameters to do a small tasks which was one of the major deceptions when I did its formation.
Then when you forward in your work in Revit, it will need way more power of your computer.
The major advantage was the changes that you could do in the project, that would affect the last plots to make.
Archicad does that too, you have Artlantis rendering good, but pass it to3ds and its a blast for example.
Revit is becoming famous worldwide cause its more marketed , having Autodesk in background, the same doesn't happen with Archicad from GRaphisoft.
Nowadays I am testing Vectorworks.
Why? it mixes it all!! Archicad+Autocad+Rhino+3dstudio in one....you have only one program, simple, and very powerful.
The commands are simples as Cad, the capabilities are like Archicad, Rendering is like3d studio, organic forms are like Rhino...Its a veryyy good software to learn about and there are few offices asking for it yet.
Like Archicad still does .
if u need more, you have Maxwell as so.
This is my own opinion and it worth what it worth.
Maybe someone will prefer Revit.
Everyone I know that learnt Revit, dropped again to Autocad or Rhino.
I think its being only demanded really serious in america market!.
Cheers!!

Thank you Ayman for you valuable question and also to Gustavo for his good fully detailed answer, I prefer Archicad mostly than Revit ,because it is flexible powerful modeling tool which needs less parameters for defining the model and also its capability of creating directly high quality images using Artlants or light work rendering engines which enable the designer or architect to create life like real time presentation of the model also BIMX is very great modeling tool for an animated modeling presentation which enhanced collaboration between architect and client so much.Nowadays Revit is suffering fierce competence from Archicad in3D modeling market also Vectorworks appear in the scene .
But I Think we have to recognize Graphisoft , Autodesk and Nemetscheck for their valuable efforts in developing innovative powerful modeling tools , Thank you Best regards.

I've been using Revit for the past7 years. I've a professional certification from Autodesk too. After doing some research on the interesting subject, I can see that both programs has cons & pros. On the other hand, many people mentioned Vectorworks as a powerfull competitor. I'll surely keep digging this up. I'm still fresh to learn a new software if it's worth it!

Dear Ali & Gustavo, many thanks for your contribution, personally i am using Archicad specially for modelling, i don't have enough information about Revit & the capabilities, that is why i need you opinion.
many thanks Guys

it depends on your type of work and goal of BIM department  if your scope is traditional buildings without alot of curves and strange facade revit is the best if your scope is untraditional buildings with revolved surfaces such as stadiums and mega projects bentley echosim is the best then archicad then revit if your scope to get shop drawings so revit then archicad then bentley even the last version of bentley have solved alot of shopdrawing problems if you are looking for presentation so aarchicad then revit then bentley  if you are looking for accurate realtime quantities so go for bentley then archicad then revit the optimum advatage of archicad is the universal file where all the users cacAN OPEN FILE AND EDIT ON IT in the sametime even they are in different countries  regarding the licence of software archicad is cheaper than revit cheaper than bentley  regarding joining with other softwares like primavera revit is easier than the two other then archi then bentley regarding the control of the output and program intellegence revit is more intellegent than archi more than bentley ,but control of output is the reverse action of intellegence as bentley is the best in control the output regarding hardware requirments archicad is least in requirments then bentley then revit i guess that is the main concept difference between the three programs feel free to ask about any other thing i didn't mention  i hope you find this helpful

In Facilities Operations i would prefer start using BIM.

Building Information Modelling have been more popular than before. As my graduation project was talking about BIM, I have used Revit2013 rather than ArchiCAD because the program was easier to use even though both had the same functions. Even though both programs are great but for engineers we will need an easier program to help us in design and building a model. So i would use Revit2014 as I got an experience by using it :)

I prefer ArchiCAD for many reasons. First of all; the element handling is very easy. Becasue of the pet pallet; you can manipulate your element onscreen without the need to go into a pop up menu. Now; on  R17; the detailing has become quite the exitementbecause of the new priority based connections feature. I could go on speaking about the benefits of modeling with ArchiCAD, but I thinks it's best if you could try it for your self and see.

I studied and familiarized myself with the two programs. I have more preference for Archicad over Revit. My opinion is that Archicad is more intuitive to the architect, faster, lighter with regards to computer processing, and has more freedom to shape objects with its morph utility.
