I am amazed how many "No" answers I saw above.
The answer should always be yes if you want to have an effective meeting. Disturbances are one of the most frequent "meeting killers". Just imagine a1 hour meeting of10 people. Everyone will get at least2-4 calls during the meeting. Half of them will decide to go out... then you have to wait for them to make a decision, or to repeat what you've said, it will destroy the meeting flow and you will most probably end it without real decisions since no one was100% there with mind and body.
Not at all ! switching of mobiles is against the basic principle of communication.
If someone receive and urgent call, he/she may exit the meeting for a while.
If it is kept in silent/vibrate mode you can send a quick message and call back afterwards.
they can bring their mobiles and switch to silent mode or vibrate but not to switch off....sometimes emergency comes unexpectedly.....
Yes, it is rude ... and a meeting should not be interrupted unless information for this meeting is needed which will be presented during the meeting... however these calls should come through the switchboard and not through a cell
Mobiles should be in silent mode. Ather the meeting, each one should call back the ones who called.
But, I strongly believe, that we should proceed with shorter meetings.....Maybe it is the time to have meetings around a tall table standing and not sitting.....Focus, talk down to the issue, make a decision and then leave the room for actions.
Thank you.
yes so that everybody can hear each opinion
I will not ask them to switch of the mobile but it is always better to keep it at silent mode so that the incoming call will not interfere with the sales meeting and of course the sales person can call back later after the meeting is over.
Not to switch off, in case they receive a call from another customer.. But certainly to keep it on silent because it is rude to have their phone ringing during a meeting and it is rude to answer calls while in a meeting. But they definitely need to know who called to get back to them after the meeting.
No because if there is some emergency help from the team atleast you can urgently reply anyhow you can ask permission whenever there is an incoming call from your team.
There is no doubt that these devices have caused us confusion
And chaos and bad use them
A big problem
