These data needed by structural designer to determine the cross-section shape and Dimensions of all structures members as well as the amount of reinforced bars 

HOWEVER A RELATED DESIGN CONSIDERATION IS THE NEED FOR THE STRUCTURE TO HAVE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY

A STRUCTURE IS SAID TO HAVE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY IF IT IS ABLE TO WITHSTAND LOCALISED DAMAGE OR FAILURE OF STRUCTURAL MEMBER CAUSED BY ANY UNFORESEEN OR ABNORMAL EVENTS ( THAT MAY REASONABLY BE EXPECTED) LIVE LOADS,DEAD LOADS ,EARTHQUAKE LOADS WIND LOADS ,SOIL LATERAL LOADS, WITHOUT ..SPREAD OF DAMAGE OR COLLAPSE TO A LARGE PART OF THE STRUCTURE 

All described are the basis for  structural or civil calculation, all based on the specs of the Project and regulations/Codes. Sometimes the codes or regulations refer to other codes ( fi. Eurocode or UBC)
