The freight elevator differs from the passenger elevator by having a low speed, higher torque to handle larger weight. Knowing that the Power (Kw) = Speed x torque, then for the same motor power the less the speed is the higher the torque is.

An eleveator is also known as lift usually installed in high buildings to lift people to higher levels in a building as an alternative to stair cases. On the other hand, a freight elevator is used to load heavy goods and equipment onto a vehicle for further movement to where it is going to be used.
