Open Recruitment Days usually achieve the following goals:1.
Market Visibility for the Organization - Employer Branding.2.
Educating the general public about your Organization and it's Values and Mission.3.
Publicizing current and urgent vacancies.4.
Attracting applicants for these vacancies and conducting initial screening for further short listing.
These events can be held at external locations or within the Organizations Premise.
It may be easy to shortlist applicants based on tests at an external Open Recruitment Day Venue, however it is best to finalize the best and most qualified applicants based on a thorough interview process within the Organization's venue.
This has it's own benefits and advantages.

Open recruitment days is a great way of attracting new employees from outside of traditional sources of recruitment (especially if you are looking for certain jobs which requires certain type of people), also open days are considered part of marketing campaigns for companies to promote their images, and it gives you the opportunity to showcase your offices, staff facilities, promote welcoming environment and allow face to face engagement with your targeted and potential employees.
A number of activities normally are take place such as reception and welcoming targeted group, briefing about the company history & culture, one to one conversation with one of your staff, office tour, facilities tour, meet staff on job, questions and answers, giveaways.
I think it will work well if managed properly since it will allow you to interact in informal way with your potential employees and handling their questions and answers and this will help you to know them better.

During an interview just how recruiters assess candidates for various skills & attributes, candidates also assess whether or not the company is right for them.
Hence an Open Recruitment day is a great way to showcase your company to large number of job seekers.
From an employer’s perspective if well planned, it saves time and helps identify potential employees.
I have been part of several open recruitment days in the past when we were required to recruit a sizeable number of professionals for different positions.
What we did: - First determined which positions we wanted to recruit for - Advertised the positions well in advance and garnered healthy interest among job seekers - Conducted a presentation that gave all attendees a good idea about the company and the positions they are being considered for.
- Had a sizeable team ready to deal effectively with the rush of candidates.
Assigned team members to meet & greet applicants, collect CV’s, answer queries and conduct interviews.
Ensured that all applicants meet with hiring managers for at least10-15 minutes.
Potential candidates are informed about further rounds of interviews/ assessments.
- Within a week of conducting the open recruitment day, sent ‘thank you’ emails to all unsuccessful candidates I would also recommend being part of a Virtual Job Fair (VJF).
This is an online job fair that allows both professionals and companies to interact through voice and video chat and explore employment opportunities.
It’s a great recruitment tool and is approximately70% cheaper than a physical job fair.
Bayt.com has conducted several successful VJF's in the past and has some excellent testimonials from clients were part of this online job fair.
