What computer skills are going to be of most importance in the future?

I strongly believe that the basic computer skills like typing, using MS Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint will remain the most needed skills as they comprise most of the daily work of any professional. I experienced this as a teacher and today as a translator. They are classics now.

From now; you need to be familiar with gesture interaction and Multi-touch PC-Tablets.

Programming and design of all types and domains.

I believed most in Database Programming and design and also in, Web application programming and design.

Computer Networking, Architecture and MS office package.

The Most Important knowledge everyone should know is the Internet World. We should learn how to google things and of course classics like MS office, Acrobat and Printing soultions.

Typing, word possessing, spreadsheets, presentations design & programming 

The importance of computer skills is relative depending on the context and the nature and extent of development of the country.  In more developed countries children or students may acquire certain basic computer skills in their homes and will be looking for more stimulation and high end skills to acquire in school.  In most homes computers are available in the developed world.  Young children have been socialised into the technology culture at a young age.  So varying contexts play a role when it comes to what computer skills are important
