First get experience and then act as a PM
The most likely situation here will be that of poor judgement, as there is usually a requisite level of experience, knowledge and accomplishment to be obtained for one to become a PM.
Decisions would normally be based on laid down rules with due consideration to urgency and importance of the particular event.
When decisions are crucial for success of a particular project and you are young PMP, the decisions should be based on following criterion.
- List down possible decision/way forward to accomplish desired results.
- Assess viability of these possible way out/options in consultation with Seniors/PMP standard.
- Once you have selected the best possible solution, discuss it with a senior member of PM team to have a list of pros & cons which may arise.
- Compare your option with a similar project which was successfully executed, & see how your solution will work.
- Last but not the least, monitor the success rate on a periodical basis.
- List down all the possible events / outcomes of the project, which may prove worthy for your next upcoming project.
- As sky is the limit for improvement, there is always a chance for improvement, which will come by the passage of time & work.
This is not the end, just the start.
