Sir I think u want the south Asian perspective. We have made millionares out of average players. The delima is though  India cannot compete in football even at theAsian level and occationally gives a fight in hockey it has a big cricket empire. The cause is Indians billion plus consumers who may not be owning a Merc or RR or even a Harley or Triumph but are a big bet for Coca- Cola and tel cos . It is the garments. beverage , media ads for telcos , even smart phones and tablet pcs have entered the new market lately.
