What do we need to teach in School? And for what?

The world has changed a lot and everyday it keeps on changing. 

The basic lessons taught at schools, remains the same:- the fundamentals  of Science, Maths--Historical  and Geographical lessons--in addition languages: Regional,national as also foreign languages. If some additional skills are trained that also contribute for the creativity in students.

The circumstances, motivations, parental help, quality of schools/teachers, government's educational policies everything upgrades the standard of education and cultural growth and how these influence in a student determine his directions for future studies/thinking/habits and help him to choose his own career path based on interests.

Even some greatest inventions are not from discipline students at school who are good at learning.  But the change in approach will definitely yield better results--it include provision for nourished food also.  Media and internet also contributed a lot.  General peaceful all over the world and eradication of social evils will help uncorrupted governments to allocate more for the development of young minds who can bring the technology and advancement of the world to greater heights.

teach the unknown for the students to learn, teach them realistic views and the truth about things in life for them to grow responsible and aware.

According to me,a teacher has to asses each pupil knowledge with patience.such as he can give proper remedy to the pupils.Punctuality,Attitude,Positive thinking these are the most pretentious qualities for the teachers.

Schools are supposed to conduct basic learning process throughout the world. Subjects to be taught may vary nation to nation and region to region in accordance with their requirements but the objective remains the same.

Schools have to focus on developing and sharpening the skills in young children which could empower them with the abilities to collect the information, understand its importance, analyse it, present it in a scientific way and could use it purposefully. The more realistic schools go a step further and inculcate character building in their curriculum which aims at building a society with high quality human beings. In my opinion it should be the real purpose of the education at school level.

This is a very good question. My view is that there has to be a relationship between what is taught in schools and the real world.  How many bankers have financial challenges? How many marriages are impacted upon by divorce?  What is the number of people that suffer from depression? The questions go on.  It seems that the narratives in school are shaped by a reality which is very abstract and not relevant to the21st century.  How many of us have some sense of our emotional well being?  What percentage of the population understands the vagueness of the workings of the mind?  Why is there so much of conflict in the world? 

Why are so many youth alienated and disaffected?  Why do young people have children before they mature or ever mature?  It is a reflection of the international education system.  Our narratives are flawed and we need to locate educational discourse within the lived reality of people for it to make a meaningful impact on our lives.

The economics classes? Nope, mostly academic mumbo-jumbo that is entirely useless to all but a handful of policy makers. The computer science classes? Hmm, maybe about10% of that I’ve used, but it’s nothing I couldn’t have picked up with a couple good books, which I routinely do now. The history, English, philosophy, and physics? Aside from giving me a general understanding of the world and making me sound smart at cocktail parties, I can’t think of anything in there that I really use on a day to day basis.

 

Much of college gave me a bad taste for education. It made learning a real drag. I got through it to get the degree, but it wasn’t until after school that my education really began.

How  about Audio books....Yes, speed reading and speed comprehension is real. The nominal investment of time it takes to learn pays off in spades for the rest of your life. After all, how would your life be different if you were able to read an extra book each week?

 

The same goes with audio books. If you spend an hour per day in the car learning instead of cursing at other drivers or listening to Britney Spears, you will have attended the equivalent of an entire semester course. Every major book today comes out on audio book, and you can read (listen to) them all without taking any additional time out of your day.

Interest in education online - because the next world language

As a student i find it really boring to keep teaching us the same subjects over and over , the students should be asked what are their interests and what do they like or want to be involved in when they grow up or when they finish school, because in my opinion the next generation should be more self-dependent and self driven .
