When you had to communicate bad news. How did you handle this?

FIRST MAKE THE GROUND TO SEED ANYTHING ......   BAD OR GOOD .

Your question indicates two situations:

a) Professional or Business Communication

b) Personal 

So for business communication just firmed that you are giving communication on and as duty so just be formal and say clearly.

For personal, the person self is answer because only he knows that how can the situation can be handled.

Choose the right time and right place.

Get others in their comfort zone

Start with some relaxing news

Show sincere involvements and care

Offer your help and support

Expression makes it easy to comfort anybody. if it is bad news make him/her realize that it is bad news for you too and you are really sad to learn that.

Tell them the positive impact of this news first, before you direct the message, start with good news, good announcement.
