Is Microsoft office important as it was when it was launched ?

yes, and always will be important

Although there are more options now it is still vital for universal compatibility. Majority of business use Office and when sharing information compatibility is vital. When Office first launched many still relied on fax and postal. Now majority of information is sent electronically or via email so the information must be compatible with all your clients and vendors.

No it became more important , Note : there is something called Libreoffice and OpenOffice , and because they are very strong programs , What Do you think MS will Do ? they will look and compare and improve there product and decrease price  , so thank to Open source

When Microsoft launched the Word it was a standalone software and many companies already implemented some of the software i mentioned above so its was a tough years for Microsoft to sell their product and convince their target clients to replace their existing system by Word. But with effective marketing campaigns for years since they first started until now. They succeeded and able to monopolized and control the market by their product so we end up using their software because it became the standard.

 

 

Not that important as it was launched , Because we have a lot of alternatives available now
