Team management is important because a manager is only as good as the individuals in his team. Successful managers are the ones who can identify the strengths and weaknesses of everyone in the team and then assign them the tasks which are more suited to their strengths. Also in order to achieve all this the subordinates have to be kept properly motivated and all this is part of team management.
