The public sector consists of organizations that are owned and operated by the government.
The private sector consists of organizations that are privately owned and that do not form part of the government.
I would prefer to work in public sector.
Mr. Divyesh's answer on my opinion is more close
At this age i have to be dynamic and need to earn enough money so that I can retire rich. And this is possible only in the private sector where ur performance is rewarded immediately and people who do not want to work are shown the door. But the publec sector in the South Asian context is a place whre u get paid even without work in some cases. But the pay itself is only subsistance level or lower than the private sector. But trade unionism has increased the compensation to a high level in some industries like steel and railways in India.
But from my experiance I can tell u the worst case scenerio is working for a public sector or Govt company without any benifits. About15 years ago i tried my hand in Agency buss for Life insurance Corporatin of India which is a PUBLIC SECTOR FIRM.
I had my target like a private concern but the field support given by LIC emploees was terrible.
Every moment u were insulted and told that u were a mere agent and they were the authority.
The fact that we were bringing in bussiness for the co did not occer to them.
Then when private and foreign players were allowed in I took the chance and joined TATA A IG and soon many of my clients were eager to make new policies with the new player and I was sucessful. I was provided with a telephone with free calls and ambiance of an air conditioned office . I think working in the private sector is better as u know what u are worth immediately.
The private sector is usually composed of organizations that are privately owned and not part of the government. These usually includes corporations (both profit and non-profit), partnerships, and charities.
The public sector is usually composed of organizations that are owned and operated by the government. This includes federal, provincial, state, or municipal governments, depending on where you live. Privacy legislation usually calls organizations in the public sector a public body or a public authority.Personally I would rather the public sector since there is room for advancement and growth. There is nothing to gain while working for private sector, you are doing what pleases the government and not gaining anything in return. Im all for me, not for government...
private sector means business owned by individuals or group of people and public sector corporation could be wholly or partly owned by the government. --both sectors offer good opportunities depending upon the skill-set and field of specialization.
