Do you think appearance has anything to do with specific jobs?

For example, will you hire a bald man for sales or marketing position for a hair care product?

The question is very realistic. Actually, for me it would depend. In the Marketing field, i believe physical appearance is not a big concern such as being bald, being short/tall,being beautiful etc. What matters most in Marketing is how creative and great the person can come up with ideas. People shouldn't be judged of their ability to do great things because of Physical Apperance. On the other hand, Sales can be very tricky with regards to appearance because consumer can be very critical in buying a product, if this involves products that has something to do with physical appearance. But everything depends on what you are trying to sell or negotiate. And sometimes people lacking of what they are selling may know the real needs of a certain consumer and might be able to divert that weakness to an opportunity. Great things come in different ways, so I say know the person first and check if he is capable regardless of his weakness.

it highly depends on the nature of the job, the industry and the culture.  For example, It`s not appropriate to hire an extremely overweight person to work in a Gym front desk position!

you want to appoint the right person at the right place, without compromising talent, experience or credentials.

I think bald professional sale will promote the trade mark better then unprofessional with a lovely hair.

The target of marketing in such situation: CREATE A RIGHT ADVERTISING LEGEND for customer (it should argue why he is bold and why its better to not)

If my company is selling hair care products then I will definitely not hire a bald man to sell my hair care products, instead, I ll hire someone with beautiful and shiny hairs. Because, I believe sales and marketing professionals are always brand ambassadors for the company. Therefore, their appearance and personality do matter a lot to portray the right image of organization.

Yes, the appearance do matters, specially if the sales man introducing his product that is very closely relevant to his physical appearance... Because it is the most convincing tool through his appearance or shall we say his testimony about the product he is selling..

Baldness is something out of mens hands and has something to do with genes. But in appearance in general (the way you dress, how you smell, and how you speak) plays a big role in sales.

Bald man selling a hair product is funny... Unless it is a regrowth treatment and is using the product and has experienced results.

Although appearance matters mainly at the very early beginning of the sales interview, but still the personality, the talent the charisma determine whether or not the customer will sell.So yes it matters but it is one of many factors

Nice Topic. Appearance matters alot! First of all you have to look good to attract your costumers, second of all your attitude matters too because that will always bring the costumer back and finally good product.

Well ,yes appearance has a great deal in sales and marketing. It is not how you physically look ,though it can help, but being neat ,presentable , and having great communication skill is the most important aspect of marketing in addition to following up with your customers
