Use DMAIC methodology, start step by step, process by process. It is easy.
Six Sigma is a very stringent Quality Control Methodology as it enforces zero defect and zero deviation form standards. It can be implemented only in those business organizations which have a strong philosophy towards Quality and have successfully adopted and implemented QA & QC methodologies and are close to achieving zero defect & deviation.
Very few organizations across the world are Six Sigma compliant and in my opinion Six Sigma should be implied to only those organizations which have matured in QA & QC and are close to achieving the magical figure "zero".
Six Sigma stands for Six Standard Deviations (Sigma is the Greek letter used to represent standard deviation in statistics) from mean. Six Sigma methodology provides the techniques and tools to improve the capability and reduce the defects in any process. It was started in Motorola, in its manufacturing division, where millions of parts are made using the same process repeatedly. Eventually Six Sigma evolved and applied to other non manufacturing processes. Today you can apply Six Sigma to many fields such as Services, Medical and Insurance Procedures, Call Centers.Six Sigma methodology improves any existing business process by constantly reviewing and re-tuning the process. To achieve this, Six Sigma uses a methodology known as DMAIC (Define opportunities, Measure performance, Analyze opportunity, Improve performance, Control performance).Six Sigma improves the process performance, decreases variation and maintains consistent quality of the process output. This leads to defect reduction and improvement in profits, product quality and customer satisfaction.
Mr. Vinod excellent answer
Thanks for the invite
Well said by others. Thanks Mr.Emad and Mr. Venod.
Briefly, in order to effectively use Six Sigma strategy, you should effectively apply its5 elements (DMAIC) and continue working on them in order to find errors, find the best solutions and keep working on improvement
Fully endorsing the answer been added by MR. Emad Mohammed said abdalla. Nothing to add to the topic.
Six Sigma was introduced by Motorola in the1980s to set standards for the way defects are counted. It is a statistical measure and business strategy. The goal of Six Sigma is to achieve fewer than3.4 defects per million opportunities by training internal leaders to apply established techniques. Six sigma has been adopted by all sizes and types of organizations.
InstructionsCommit to the project. Make sure all top-level management is on board and that financial and managerial resources are available. Establish policies and guidelines and hold training programs for employees.
Define the project scope and goals based on customer feedback and needs. Inspiration for six sigma projects can come from surveys, studies or existing projects. Set goals for the whole organization or for a specific level of the organization that needs improvement.
Measure the defects in the current system and performance. Use statistical data analysis.
Analyze the system to identify defects and problems. Identify the possible causes of problems. Explore possible solutions and assess their possible effect on the organization.
Improve the system by finding ways to do things faster, cheaper or better. Use management and planning tools to put the improvement projects into place. Test the improvement with statistical data.
Control the new process by modifying systems and measuring processes to continue to achieve results. Use customer feedback and statistical tools. State what was done to improve performance. Document methods to recognize and solve future problems.
