It will be best if you start drawing of small objects with define line with light and shade.

If you're talking about drawing by hand then I highly recommend a soft 'B' pencil and a sketchbook with cartridge or bond paper.
When it comes to using the computer, you can use a drawing tablet or a mouse with Adobe Illustrator's pencil or pen tools.

I believe it is the pencil.. and you could use coal for extreme contrast between black and white..
