(c) is the incorrect, therefore the CORRECT answer.

Management Inventory Card or Chart:

It includes both an organizational history of the employee and cues on how she might be used in the future. It can include details like :

  • Age,
  • Year of Employment,
  • Present Position,
  • Duration of current Posting,
  • Performance Ratings,
  • Strengths and Weaknesses,
  • Positions to which the employee can be moved,
  • By when would she be able to take the new role,
  • What new training and development required for the same.

Position Replacement Form, is part of the system

This record focuses on position centred information rather than people centred information. The position information form is helpful in determining what would happen to a present position, if the current incumbent is moved to some other post or leaves the organization.

Management Manpower Replacement Chart

This Chart presents a composite view of the individual’s management considers significant for human resource planning.

The current incumbent’s performance rating and promotion potential  can be easily compared with those of the other employees when a company is trying to determine which individual would most appropriately fill a particular position

All these3 forms together help the management answer the questions:

  • What is the organizational history of an individual and what potential does the person possess?
  • If a position becomes vacant, who might be eligible to fill it?
  • What are the merits of one individual being considered for a position compared to those of another individual under consideration?

.............(c)     It shows the position to which a manager may be promoted

(c)

Manager Inventory Chart is a partial organization chart that shows managerial positions, current incumbents, potential replacements for each position, and the age of each person.

However, it does not show the position to which a manager may be promoted.

Hence, option (c) is not an advantage of Manager Inventory Chart.

Options (a), (b), (d) and (e) are all advantages of Manager Inventory Chart.

Option A is correct. Since this is only related to management and therefore CANNOT give an overview of human resource situation of the organization which would include all employees and not only the managers.

In my opinion I think that option (e) (Managers who do not perform satisfactorily can be identified, and they can be trained or replaced.)  is not an advantage of the manager inventory chart as the chart is intended primarily to indicate staff availability and opportunities for succession planning not an assessment tool or a needs analysis tool.

An inventory chart manager who charts goods is charting "Humans"!!!!!!  God save your organization!!!

OR

Maybe I am wrong!!!

In dictatorial empires Humans & Goods are classified together!!! So it makes sense for a goods chart manager as a Great replacement for HRD!!!
