I would say its normal to face cold calls on daily bases.
Be smart, clear and professional, armed with with excellent communication skills and useful/complete knowledge, stay calm and flexible, listen well, smile and provide good answers, never LIE and always remember how to move on from rejection. Thank You.

You should try to understand the level of customer you are talking with and communicate according to that.
Understand what the customer demand is and then offer the best solution by the product you are marketing,
We can face challenges while cold calling but we always believe in the product we are selling and project the product instead of selling ourselves and overstating the number of customers who are using the product and the ROI they achieved in short terms, this will be the game changer and avoids cold calling
While making a cold call you should have a sound plan, grip on your script, ability to switch from plan A to plan B or to plan C, complete knowledge of product, you should be able to identify the customer need and educate the person on the other side of the phone and develop interest for your product Plus be understanding not aggressive listen to the person what he/she is saying keep the sale out of your mind for a moment and focus what he/she is asking and answer according and calmly with honesty, Never rush in a cold call !
My advise to sales rep about a successful cold calling would be based on few tips;
1) Invest in research about prospect
2) Craft a solid script with plan A plan B and plan C
3) Understand prospect's needs, wants and demands and stay confident.
4) Stick to your goal.
5) Anticipate Objections.
