I believe thats the best case scenario in order for you to gain their trust by being the consultant and provide the support an ideas they want rather than just selling a product for them.
For example in the CCTV field which I work in, alot of clients dont know what type of cameras they need and what is the purpose they need it for and what number they need. So I approach them according to standards the reception areas must have atleast two cameras for face detection and they should be WDR (wide dynamic range) in order not to be affected by external sunlight.. the same thing applies for all other areas..
Showing the client that you are knowledgeable about your product will make him feel relaxed and will go with any solution you provide for him.
