As a blogger, what do you do if your reader engagement is not improving?

If a site is having poor reader engagement then we must evaluate and improve the following areas,

1) The information richness of the content.

2) User Interface, make it easy to navigate to other sections and of the site and explore more.

3) Ask qustions and actionable contents can compell them make their comments.

4) reply to the comments can make readers more engaging, even a 'thank you' can do more.

5) contests and surveys are other ways for user engagement.

6) Use good videos, photos and other infos that support your content.

7) linking to other interesting parts of the site within the content also improves user engagement.

I would usually start a discussion around the topic of the blog post on the blogs comment section which is linked to social networks like Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. Doing so shows an improvement on the post.

Another technique is to break a post into an article series from the very beginning. That is likely to give a high engagement figure. That always works. At the end of the day its based on your judgement. Sometimes a photo-story is better than a short text based blog.
