It is always difficult to handle a manager like that but there is a way to deal with them in a perfect way is to know their management stylish :

1) Most of them don't need to discuss in details so they just need you to enter your topic  directly.

2) Do your best to solve your problems before asking for  help.

3)  It is always better if you have a problem need  their decisions to tell them the problem with your serious   suggestions of solving  this problem.

4) Chose the right time of meetings with them.

5) Be a result oriented person like them.

If a manager is foolish enough to focus ONLY on on results, then fooling him/her shouldn't be too hard.  The secret, as always in boss management, is in making them ask the right questions.  In this case, the results you want them to focus on are:- things you've already done- things you were going to do anyway- things you'd like to doIt will take several months to train the boss, and the more help you can get from other employees the better.  Restrict the flow of information, and use cheap tricks like landing a crisis on his desk at5pm when you know he has a hot date/has to be home early to look after the children ... obviously you have arranged to have a clear evening.  The cartoon strips 'Dilbert' and 'Alex' may provide inspiration. Your boss's outlook is narrow, so control the what and when of his field of vision. I must emphasize that the purpose of all this is to enable you to do your job better and/or make it easier.  We're not trying to hurt the business here, quite the opposite.  And remember, no matter how motivating it is to get a "well done" from your boss, it's still not as motivating as having the rest of the team say "well done" to you for keeping him off their backs.Bad bosses are a curse of the modern world.  They deserve to be punished.

I have a manager just like that, I have to say that it's actually quite a pleasure to work with, the manager is definitely detrimental to see results and this is in a capacity of productive problem solving or whatever prevents productivity. I've seen a vast transformation within teams to keep him at bay with his bulldog approach to this. I have only so much to offer in my skills, and the technical department mostly offers the rest but the company has to also accountable with resources. working with a driven management team this comes together to form a senergy using authority if you like at different levels to solve problems timeously.

Thank you for the invitation Leen Abdallah...

Whilst every manger is usually results driven or focuses on usually the outcome or achievements know that they are pressurised from higher above... The hierarchy does not stop at your line manager usually it goes beyond that therefore try and adhere to the requirements of the post... If you struggle ask for help, training, information, examples, mentoring or even shadow someone to understand how they manage to keep up with the demands to keep management happy... If you believe some things aren't achievable raise your concerns but make sure u always have evidence to ensure management do not think you are incompetent. Communication is the best key in all organisations big of small, have a one to one with your manager explain how you are trying your best and ask for support it's not a shameful thing to ask for anything because that's how you learn and grow!
