Help the seniors with some work and be ready to take any challenge they throw . And then you have to be smart to get friendly with them .. crack some jokes and all
It will be really hard for a new comer to treat unfairly like this. However, I advise to take it constructively, he/she must try her best to fulfill & continue his/her commitment with the company in any case to prove his/her professionalism.
As far as I understand, competition is always there but for you to at least being unique, focus on your goal in the work, these hindrances are just part of your challenge.
I must say that the company should be also careful of keeping this kind of people (senior employees) who does not care of what image their are building up in the eyes of the new comers.
These activities are not healthy for the firm.
These circumstances are seen in every work environment not matter what industry you join, unless its a start up company or a new team. From my personal experience, she would need to first learn and understand her work, to improve her knowledge. She needs to try her best to keep differences aside and accept her new role with confidence. There would be obstacles in her way and if the old members take it too far then she needs to report them. But she has to be patient and try to build their trust in her. Finally her work has to prove that she can keep up with them.
May be the older members of the team account her as competitor and treat her unfriendly depending upon her way of performing. If she is keen at peer to peer relations then such things may not happen. But it is too difficult for a new comer in the organization.
make a clear work role definition and show both the importance of their roles and the complementary between them to drive the organizational performance in their front as a team.
Deal with them as a team to get them cooperate in achieving their common task.
Well, a new employee may find an unpleasant environment but it can not be continued so long. Other employees need to help and show cooperativeness, also the new employee should make them trust with the jobs done correctly. Learning and polite attitude will work a lot here.
